Supporting U.S. market access for electrical equipment
DEKRA Accredited by A2LA for Field Evaluation Services in the U.S.
May 13, 2026DEKRA Certification Inc. has been accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) as a Type A (third-party) inspection body in accordance with ISO/IEC 17020:2012 and A2LA R332: Specific Requirements for NFPA Field Evaluation, Certificate No. 2764.05.
This A2LA accreditation authorizes DEKRA Certification Inc. to provide Field Evaluation Services (FES) within its approved Scope of Accreditation, delivering site-based assessments of modified or custom-built electrical equipment, particularly where standard third-party product certification pathways may not apply.
By evaluating equipment in its installed condition, field evaluations may be used by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) as part of their acceptance decision-making process, in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, and may help reduce delays in project review and approval.
DEKRA Certification Inc.’s A2LA-accredited scope includes the evaluation of industrial machinery and electrical equipment, conducted in accordance with NFPA 790, NFPA 791, NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, and NFPA 79, with reference to applicable UL, IEC, and ISO standards where appropriate.
For manufacturers and exporters, DEKRA combines U.S.-based inspection capabilities with its global network of testing, inspection, and certification services. This integrated approach supports market access through product testing, certification, and, where applicable, on-site field evaluation.
In the United States, DEKRA also provides product safety testing and, where applicable, certification under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-recognized Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) programs, as well as RF/EMC and wireless testing, EV charging equipment evaluation, and global market access support.
“Achieving A2LA accreditation for Field Evaluation Services expands how we support customers navigating U.S. requirements,” said Daniel Sigouin, North American Quality Manager, DEKRA Certification Inc. “By combining local expertise with DEKRA’s global network, we provide structured support for addressing compliance requirements.”
